HGH Fragment 176-191 5 mg vial dosage
A 5 mg HGH Fragment 176-191 vial mixed with 1 mL of bacteriostatic water gives 5 mg/mL, so 350 mcg is 7 units (0.07 mL) on a U-100 insulin syringe. At 350 mcg a dose, one vial holds 14 doses.

What HGH Fragment 176-191 is
- Class:
- Synthetic 16-amino-acid peptide, the unmodified 176-191 C-terminal sequence of human growth hormone
- Also called:
- Fragment 176-191, Frag 176-191, HGH Frag, hGH 176-191
- Used for:
- Sold to consumers as a research-chemical fat-loss product, marketed on the claim that this slice of growth hormone carries its fat-metabolising activity without the growth-promoting or blood-sugar effects of the whole hormone. Never developed into an approved drug under this exact sequence.
- Human evidence:
- Animal / lab only. The only peptide from this region of hGH to reach a randomised human obesity trial is AOD-9604 - a related but different molecule (177-191 plus an added tyrosine). I could not locate any published human trial of the unmodified 176-191 sequence sold under this name. What exists is a 1978 rat study of this and other C-terminal hGH fragments, which found a hyperglycemic and insulin-raising effect rather than a fat-loss one, and a 2022 laboratory study pairing it with a cancer drug in cell culture - unrelated to weight loss. That is animal and in-vitro data only, with no human evidence at all for the fat-loss claim it is marketed on.
- US status:
- Unapproved drug. Not FDA-approved for any indication in the United States, and not a dietary supplement. "HGH Fragment 176-191" does not appear by that name on FDA's bulk drug substances compounding-risk page. The related, more commonly reviewed sequence is AOD-9604 (177-191 plus an added tyrosine), which FDA does list, in the "nominated but withdrawn" table, with its own immunogenicity, impurity and adverse-event concerns - a listing that does not extend to the unmodified 176-191 sequence sold under this separate name.

Supplies for one cycle with 5 mg vials
Counted for the low and high ends of the common protocol, mixing each vial with 1 mL of water. One new syringe per injection.
| Plan | Injections | 5 mg vials | Insulin syringes | Bacteriostatic water | Alcohol swabs |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 200 mcg, 7×/week, 4 weeks | 28 | 2 | 28 | 2 mL (1 × 10 mL bottle) | 60 (1 × 100-pack) |

Arithmetic on the protocol and this vial size. Swabs: two per vial mixed (both stoppers) and two per injection (vial stopper and skin). An opened multi-dose vial has a use-by date (see storage), which on a slow schedule can matter more than the dose count. Plan your own numbers with the protocol builder.
How to mix a 5 mg HGH Fragment 176-191 vial
For this vial: 1 mL of bacteriostatic water makes 5 mg/mL, so 350 mcg is 7 units (0.07 mL) on a U-100 insulin syringe. Pick a different volume from the units table if you want bigger or smaller draws; the number of doses stays the same.
- Wipe the rubber stoppers of both the peptide vial and the bacteriostatic water vial with an alcohol swab and let the alcohol dry. [3][4]
- With a new sterile needle and syringe, draw up the amount of bacteriostatic water you have chosen for the dilution. [3][4][5]
- Inject the water into the peptide vial by aiming the stream against the inside glass wall, which helps prevent foaming. [6]
- Swirl or roll the vial gently until the powder has fully dissolved; do not shake it. Do not inject the solution if it is cloudy or has particles in it. [3][4][6]
- Label the vial with the date and time it was mixed, the amount of water added and how long it can be used after mixing. [3]
- Store the mixed vial in the refrigerator at 2-8°C (36-46°F) and do not freeze it. [6]

Storing HGH Fragment 176-191 vials
- Freeze-dried (lyophilized) peptide keeps far longer than peptide in solution; peptide suppliers advise storing the powder at -20°C away from bright light. [7]
- Protect peptide vials from heat and light. [7][8]
- Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles; a prescription peptide label also says not to freeze a vial once it has been mixed. [6][7]
- Once a multi-dose vial, such as bacteriostatic water, has been opened (needle-punctured), date it and discard it within 28 days unless its manufacturer states another date. [9][10]
More detail: peptide storage and shelf life.
Injecting safely
- Clean the injection site with an alcohol swab and let the skin dry completely before injecting. [11][12]
- Pinch up a fold of skin and fat (not muscle) and insert the needle at a 45- to 90-degree angle: 90 degrees where there is enough fatty tissue, 45 degrees where there is little. [11][12][13]
- Pulling back on the plunger (aspiration) is not necessary for a subcutaneous injection, because the chance of the needle being in a blood vessel is small. [11]
- Inject slowly, at roughly 10 seconds per mL. [11]
- Common sites are the belly, the thigh and the upper arm; rotate sites, keeping each injection at least 1 inch (2.5 cm) from the last. [6][11][12]
Hygiene and warning signs
- Use a new sterile needle and syringe for every injection and every time you enter a vial; never reuse them. [5][9][12]
- Never share needles, syringes or pens with anyone, even if the needle is changed; unsafe injection practices spread hepatitis B, hepatitis C and HIV. [5][8][9]
- Put used needles and syringes in a sharps disposal container straight away (FDA-cleared if possible), never loose in the trash, recycling or toilet, and dispose of the container following your community's guidelines. [14][15]
- Contact a health care provider if the injection site shows signs of infection, such as redness, swelling, red streaks or a fever. [12]
Where to inject: subcutaneous injection sites.
How HGH Fragment 176-191 works
- HGH Fragment 176-191 is a synthetic 16-amino-acid peptide matching amino acids 176-191 at the C-terminal end of human growth hormone. A 1978 study tested it in rats alongside five other synthetic C-terminal fragments of growth hormone. [16]
- It is not the same molecule as AOD-9604, which is growth hormone amino acids 177-191 with an extra tyrosine added at the N-terminus. [16][17]
- The fat-loss rationale comes from work on the overlapping 177-191 sequence (AOD9401). In isolated rat fat tissue it stimulated hormone-sensitive lipase and inhibited acetyl-CoA carboxylase, as intact growth hormone does. That work did not test the 176-191 sequence itself. [18]
What the HGH Fragment 176-191 research found
Human evidence: animal / lab only. Each result says what was studied.
- Animal studyIn the 1978 study in normal rats, 176-191 was one of four growth hormone fragments that caused a short-lived rise in blood glucose and a longer rise in plasma insulin. The two shortest fragments, 179-191 and 180-191, had no effect. [16]
- Animal studyIn the same study, a single dose of 5 nmol/kg of the fragments containing the 178-191 sequence, a group that includes 176-191, significantly reduced the rats' insulin sensitivity in intravenous insulin tolerance tests. [16]
- Lab studyA 2022 laboratory study loaded fragment 176-191 with the chemotherapy drug doxorubicin into chitosan nanoparticles. The combination slowed the growth of MCF-7 breast cancer cells more than doxorubicin nanoparticles alone. The study did not look at fat loss. [19]
HGH Fragment 176-191 side effects and risks
I could not find a published human study of the 176-191 sequence, so there is no human safety data; the only safety-relevant finding is from rats.
- Animal studyIn rats, the fragment acted in the diabetes-like direction: blood glucose rose briefly, plasma insulin stayed raised for longer and insulin sensitivity fell after a single dose. [16]
Other things to know
- No published human trial exists for this exact sequence, so there is no human safety, dosing or side-effect record to draw on - the limited safety picture reported for AOD-9604 does not automatically transfer to a related but molecularly different peptide.
- Routinely sold and marketed by conflating it with AOD-9604, a molecule with an added tyrosine and its own (failed) Phase IIb obesity trial; a buyer researching one compound's history may be reading about a substance that is not, molecularly, the one in the vial.
- The only controlled animal data specific to this exact sequence - a 1978 rat study - reported a hyperglycemic action and a rise in plasma insulin, the opposite metabolic direction from the effect it is marketed for today.
- Sold through the same research-chemical and grey-market channels as AOD-9604 and GLP-1 lookalike products, with none of the manufacturing or purity oversight an approved drug requires, and no established human half-life or dosing interval in the literature I could verify.

Questions
- How much water do I add to a 5 mg HGH Fragment 176-191 vial?
- There is no single correct amount: water changes how many units a dose is, not how many doses the vial holds. With 1 mL the vial is 5 mg/mL and 350 mcg is 7 units (0.07 mL) on a U-100 insulin syringe. The units table gives 1, 2, 5 mL.
- How many doses are in a 5 mg HGH Fragment 176-191 vial?
- 25 doses at 200 mcg, 14 doses at 350 mcg, 10 doses at 500 mcg.
- How long does a 5 mg HGH Fragment 176-191 vial last?
- At 350 mcg a dose and once or twice daily, about 1-2 weeks. How long a mixed vial keeps is a separate limit; see storage below.
- How many 5 mg vials do I need for a cycle?
- 2 vials at 200 mcg 7 times a week for 4 weeks; 17 vials at 500 mcg 14 times a week for 12 weeks.
- What does 1 unit equal in a 5 mg HGH Fragment 176-191 vial?
- 50 mcg with 1 mL, 25 mcg with 2 mL, 10 mcg with 5 mL of bacteriostatic water, on a U-100 syringe.
