Peptide Therapy: What the Phrase Covers

Clinics use one phrase for approved hormones, compounded products and unapproved injectables. How to decode an offer, and what to ask before you book.

Peptide therapy is a clinic marketing phrase that can cover approved hormones, compounded products or unapproved research chemicals. The words alone tell you very little, so the useful question is always which molecule, under what approval, from whom.

  • The phrase is not a regulated category by itself.
  • Demand the exact compound and legal status.
  • Therapy language does not convert research chemicals into approved drugs.

Peptide therapy is a marketing umbrella, not a single diagnosis-and-treatment pathway. If a clinic cannot name the molecule, the indication, and the legal supply route, the phrase is doing sales work rather than clinical work.

Three things “peptide therapy” might mean

  1. FDA-approved peptide medicines used on-label (or sometimes off-label under a clinician’s responsibility)
  2. Compounded products under 503A/503B rules - constrained, not a free-for-all
  3. Research-use-only injectables sold online and sometimes administered in cash-pay settings

Only (1) has a standard drug-approval evidence package. (2) depends on compounding law and quality systems. (3) is the grey zone most forum threads quietly mean.

Evidence is product-specific

Oral collagen peptides have human skin data of varying quality - that is not “therapy” for BPC-157. de 2021 - de Miranda RB, Weimer P, Rossi RC. Mixing those sentences under one “peptide therapy works” claim is the entire problem this site exists to stop.

Questions to ask a clinic

  • Which exact substances, doses, and routes?
  • FDA-approved product, compounded, or research chemical?
  • What primary evidence supports this use in humans?
  • Who verifies identity and purity of each vial?
  • What is the plan for adverse events?
