Your vial

Printed on the vial. There is no standard size - enter what yours says.

This changes how much you draw - never how many doses the vial holds.

100 units per mL. 1 unit = 0.01 mL. This is what almost every insulin syringe sold is, in every barrel size.

Barrel size

Capacity only. A 1 mL U-100 syringe holds 100 units - the scale decides that, not the barrel.

Common questions

What size vials does AOD-9604 come in?

AOD-9604 is sold in 2 mg and 5 mg vials - each size listed by at least one vendor or label page I checked (see the vial pages linked below). This calculator starts on the 5 mg vial as an example; enter any size.

How much bacteriostatic water do I add to a 5 mg AOD-9604 vial?

There is no single correct amount: water changes how many units a dose is, not how many doses the vial holds. 1 mL makes 5 mg/mL; 2 mL makes 2.5 mg/mL; 5 mL makes 1 mg/mL. With 1 mL, 400 mcg is 8 units (0.08 mL) on a U-100 insulin syringe.

How many units is 400 mcg of AOD-9604?

It depends on the vial size and the water added. In a 5 mg vial mixed with 1 mL, 400 mcg is 8 units (0.08 mL) on a U-100 syringe (100 units = 1 mL).

How many doses are in a AOD-9604 vial?

A 2 mg vial holds 5 doses of 400 mcg; A 5 mg vial holds 12 doses of 400 mcg. Adding more water does not change this.

What is the common AOD-9604 dose?

The common protocol is 250-500 mcg, once daily, fasted (some protocols run 5 days on, 2 days off), for 8-24 weeks - common practice described by clinic and vendor dosing guides, not a dose established in trials.

Is AOD-9604 legal and approved?

US status: Unapproved drug. Not FDA-approved for any indication in the United States, and not a dietary supplement, despite claims to that effect that circulate in vendor marketing I could not verify against an FDA source. FDA lists AOD-9604 in the "bulk drug substances nominated but withdrawn" table on its compounding safety-risk page; the nomination was withdrawn by the nominator in 2024, which removes it from that specific review track without approving it, or clearing it as safe, for anything.
