Ion Peptide Review: Is It Legit? COAs, Lab Tests, FDA Record

Is Ion Peptide legit? No FDA warning letter and batch COAs its lab confirms, but its addresses are a mailbox and a registered agent, and no owner is named.

The short version

Ion Peptide has no FDA warning letter on record. It publishes lot-numbered certificates from a named lab, Freedom Diagnostics, and one I checked matched the lab's own record. Finnrick, an independent tester, passed all 4 of its retatrutide samples. Against that, its contact addresses are a registered-agent office and a UPS Store mailbox, and no owner is named. It sells retatrutide as ION-3R and tirzepatide, the drug in Mounjaro and Zepbound, as ION-2T. I checked its site, the labs, state records, FDA and Finnrick on 3 October 2026. This is a fact check, not a rating.

  • No FDA warning letter names Ion Peptide or the companies in its terms, as of 3 October 2026.
  • A Freedom Diagnostics certificate for ION-3R matched the lab's own copy, and Finnrick passed all 4 Ion Peptide retatrutide samples it tested.
  • It sells retatrutide as ION-3R and tirzepatide, the drug in Mounjaro and Zepbound, as ION-2T.
  • Its contact addresses are a registered-agent office in New Mexico and a UPS Store mailbox in Georgia. No owner is named.
  • It takes credit and debit cards, and refunds unopened items returned within 30 days.

Ion Peptide has no FDA warning letter on record. It publishes batch certificates from a named lab, Freedom Diagnostics, and I matched one, for its retatrutide product ION-3R, on the lab’s own server. Against that, the addresses on its contact page are a registered-agent office and a UPS Store mailbox, and it names no owner. It also sells retatrutide and tirzepatide under code names.

I ran my peptide vendor checklist against ionpeptide.com on 3 October 2026. I used the company’s own pages, the labs’ records, state business records, FDA’s warning-letter index and Finnrick’s independent tests. There is no star rating or score.

What Ion Peptide is, and which site is real

Ion Peptide sells research-labelled peptides from ionpeptide.com. Its homepage advertises “100+ RUO Peptides Available”. The catalogue runs from BPC-157 and GHK-Cu to skin-care items such as a copper-peptide body lotion, shampoo and sheet masks.

The domain was registered on 11 August 2025, according to the .com registry, and its certificates at Freedom Diagnostics start in September 2025. Finnrick lists ionpeptide.com as the vendor’s site, and the certificates hosted there name Ion Peptide or Ion Research as the lab’s client. The address ionpeptides.com redirects to it.

A lookalike, ion-peptide.com, was registered on 18 June 2026. Its homepage copies Ion Peptide’s wording, such as “Each formulation is supported by a lot-specific Certificate of Analysis”. It lists products under the Ion Peptide name, beneath a template page title, “Classic Shop”. Check the address bar before you buy.

The terms of service name two companies, Great Research, LLC and Research Holding, LLC, and choose New Mexico law for disputes. The contact page adds a third, Ion Research, LLC. Great Research LLC is an active New Mexico company whose registered agent is Registered Agents Inc. A Georgia company named Ion Research LLC was formed on 10 September 2025 and is active, with its registered office in Peachtree Corners. I found no state record for Research Holding, LLC.

FDA and Justice Department record

I searched FDA’s warning-letter index on 3 October 2026 for “Ion Peptide”, “ionpeptide”, “Ion Research”, “Great Research”, “Research Holding” and “ION-3R”. No letter names any of them. The Justice Department’s news search found no item naming the company either. A clean record can’t show that a seller is lawful or safe.

FDA has acted against sellers of the same products. On 24 August 2026 it told another seller, Peak Performance Peptides, that its “GLP-3R” (retatrutide) was an unapproved new drug despite “research use only” labels. The letter cited drug claims on that seller’s site. It also cited the sale of bacteriostatic water “as a solvent for reconstituting your products” as evidence of intended human use. Ion Peptide sells retatrutide as ION-3R, and it sells bacteriostatic water. Research peptides and US law explains what the label does and doesn’t do.

Certificates of analysis, checked with the lab

Ion Peptide’s lab results page is a searchable library: pick a product or type a batch number. Product pages show the certificates as images. The FAQ says testing “is conducted by Freedom Diagnostics in Franklin, Tennessee”, and Freedom’s own site says it has no vendor affiliations.

Two certificates I read for ION-3R:

  • Freedom Diagnostics, lot ION3R10-09022026, received 3 September 2026 and reported 5 September 2026. It reports 99.83% purity by HPLC, identity confirmed by LC-MS (listed as “GLP RT”), and 11.18 mg of peptide in vials labelled 10 mg. Endotoxin, microbial (PCR) and heavy-metal screens pass, and no fentanyl was detected.
  • Kovera Labs, report KVR-2026-2335AB, analysed 22 March 2026 for lot ION3R10-03192026. It reports 99.938% purity, identity by LC-MS, an endotoxin pass, no microbial growth and negative heavy-metal screens.

The Freedom certificate carries a search code, IonR2609030583. Freedom’s public lookup returned the same certificate from the lab’s own server, with the same lot and results. That lookup lists 273 certificates under the client name “Ion Peptide” and 53 under “Ion Research”, received between September 2025 and September 2026.

The Kovera certificate points to a verification page at koveralabs.com that needs an access code. I did not run that lookup. How to read a peptide COA covers what to match on a certificate.

What ION-3R, ION-2T and ION-1S are

The product pages use code names and don’t name the molecules. The ION-3R page calls it a “Metabolic & Cellular Research Compound”. Two other sources identify it as retatrutide:

  • The Kovera certificate lists CAS number 2381089-83-2, which PubChem gives for retatrutide.
  • Ion Peptide’s product feed, the store data behind its shop pages, calls it “ION-3R (LY-3437943)”. LY3437943 is retatrutide’s development code.

The same feed calls ION-2T “ION-2T (LY3298176)”, a GLP-1 and GIP dual agonist. PubChem lists LY3298176 as tirzepatide, the drug in Mounjaro and Zepbound. The ION-2T page lists older lab reports under “GLP2T” lot numbers. Ion Peptide’s first certificates at Freedom, from September 2025, name “Tirzepatide” and “Retatrutide” outright, and Finnrick lists tirzepatide among its products.

ION-1S is described only as “a synthetic analogue of glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1)”. A June 2026 certificate gives its identity as “GLP SM”.

Retatrutide is an experimental drug that is not FDA-approved for any use; my retatrutide guide covers the evidence and the legal position. Tirzepatide is approved only as a prescription medicine; see my tirzepatide guide.

Human-use framing

Ion Peptide’s research-only wording is consistent across the site. Its FAQ says products “are not intended for human or animal consumption”. Its footer says “no instructions for preparation, administration, or dosage are provided”. The contact form asks buyers to accept that support “cannot provide medical, dosing, preparation, or human/animal use guidance”. I found no doses, injection schedules or disease claims on its pages.

The catalogue sits less comfortably with that label. It includes drops (such as “Drops - ION-3R | 18mg”), sprays, a copper-peptide body lotion, shampoo, conditioner, facial cleanser and sheet masks. Each carries the same “Not for human or animal use” notice.

The product feed goes further than the pages. It says studies show ION-3R has “strong impacts on weight control, blood sugar balance, and metabolic health”. It tags ION-2T “Metabolic & Weight Management Research”.

Item 7 of my checklist looks for signs that a seller expects human use. Shampoo, facial cleanser and body lotion are such signs even without a dose, so I mark this item a partial fail.

Finnrick and buyer reviews

Finnrick publishes lab results on samples it buys or that buyers send in. Its Ion Peptide page reports 4 tests, all of retatrutide, between 10 February and 22 July 2026. All 4 passed its standard (purity of 99.5% or more, dose within 35%). That gives an 82% rating, 38th of 457 vendors. Finnrick lists 9 other Ion Peptide products with no tests yet.

On Trustpilot, ionpeptide.com shows 4.7 stars from 432 reviews as of 3 October 2026. Trustpilot notes the company hasn’t invited reviews recently. Reviews describe shipping and service. They can’t tell you what is in a vial.

Where is Ion Peptide located?

The contact page gives two business and mailing addresses:

  • Great Research, LLC, 1209 Mountain Rd Pl NE, Ste R, Albuquerque, NM 87110. This is the address of Registered Agents Inc, a firm that acts as legal agent for other companies.
  • Ion Research, LLC, 3000 Old Alabama Rd, Ste 119-111, Alpharetta, GA 30022. Suite 119 is The UPS Store, which offers mailbox services. The “-111” reads as a mailbox number.

Returns go to Ion Research, 5824 Peachtree Corners E, Suite E, Peachtree Corners, GA 30092. Gwinnett County’s tax record, as shown on LoopNet, lists the building’s land use as warehouse. It is the only one of the three addresses that could be an operating base. I could not confirm who occupies Suite E.

No owner, founder or officer is named on the site. The About page describes a mission and testing standards without naming anyone.

Payments, shipping and returns

The FAQ says Ion Peptide accepts credit and debit cards, and offers a 5% discount for ACH bank transfer. Cards carry chargeback rights. ACH payments generally don’t. The terms ask buyers to contact support before any chargeback, and reserve the right to dispute one and restrict future orders.

Orders placed before 5 PM Eastern ship the same day by UPS or FedEx, with delivery estimated at 2 to 3 business days. It ships only to the US and US territories. A site banner on 3 October 2026 asked buyers to “allow 2 extra days for order processing”.

Unopened, unused items with intact seals can be returned within 30 days for a refund to the original payment method. The buyer pays return shipping unless Ion Peptide made the error. Damaged, defective or wrong items are replaced if reported with photos within 48 hours of delivery.

How to check any peptide vendor

I don’t rank vendors or name a best company to buy from. These checks work on any seller:

  1. Look up its certificates with the testing lab, using the code on the certificate.
  2. Check that the lot number on the certificate matches your vial.
  3. Look for a named owner and a street address that isn’t a mailbox.
  4. Pay by card where you can.
  5. Search FDA’s warning letters for the seller’s name and the company names in its terms.
  6. Check the domain. Lookalike shops copy well-known names.

Common questions

Is Ion Peptide legit?

Ion Peptide has no FDA warning letter on record as of 3 October 2026. It publishes lot-numbered certificates from a named lab, Freedom Diagnostics, and one I checked matched the lab's own record. Finnrick passed all 4 of its retatrutide samples. Against that, its contact addresses are a registered-agent office and a UPS Store mailbox, and no owner is named. Its domain dates only from August 2025. It also sells retatrutide and tirzepatide under code names. The scorecard on this page sources each point.

Is ionpeptide.com the real Ion Peptide website?

Yes. Finnrick lists ionpeptide.com as the vendor's site, the certificates hosted there name Ion Peptide or Ion Research as the lab's client, and ionpeptides.com redirects there. A lookalike, ion-peptide.com, was registered in June 2026. It copies Ion Peptide's homepage wording and lists products under the Ion Peptide name. Type the address yourself rather than following a link.

Does Ion Peptide test its products?

Its FAQ says testing is done by Freedom Diagnostics in Franklin, Tennessee. Its certificates report HPLC purity, LC-MS identity, and endotoxin, microbial and heavy-metal screens. A September 2026 certificate for ION-3R matched the copy on Freedom's own server. An earlier ION-3R certificate came from a second lab, Kovera Labs.

What is ION-3R?

ION-3R is Ion Peptide's code name for retatrutide. The product page does not name the molecule. Its product feed calls it LY-3437943, retatrutide's development code, and a Kovera Labs certificate for ION-3R lists CAS number 2381089-83-2, which PubChem gives for retatrutide. Retatrutide is an experimental drug and is not FDA-approved for any use.

What is ION-2T?

ION-2T is Ion Peptide's code name for tirzepatide. Its product feed calls it LY3298176, a dual GLP-1 and GIP agonist, and PubChem lists LY3298176 as tirzepatide, the drug in Mounjaro and Zepbound. Tirzepatide is approved only as a prescription medicine. Ion Peptide labels ION-2T a research chemical, not for human use.

What is the Ion Peptide return policy?

Unopened, unused items with intact seals can be returned within 30 days of purchase for a refund to the original payment method. The buyer pays return shipping unless Ion Peptide made the error. Damaged or incorrect items are replaced if reported with photos within 48 hours of delivery.

What happened to Peptide Sciences?

Peptide Sciences' own homepage says it has decided to voluntarily shut down operations and stop selling its research products. It adds that any site claiming to be its successor, or to sell its products, is unauthorized. The vendors page on this site lists the other sellers I know of that have closed or changed hands.

What is the best peptide company to buy from?

I do not rank vendors, because no regulator checks what research peptide sellers ship. To judge one yourself, look for batch certificates you can confirm with the lab and independent test results. Look for a street address, a named owner and card payments. Check for no dosing claims and no FDA warning letter. The vendor checklist on this site walks through each step.

Does Peptide Decode recommend Ion Peptide?

No. Peptide Decode has no connection to Ion Peptide, and this page does not rate, rank or recommend it or any other vendor. It reports sourced facts against a published checklist so you can judge the company yourself.
