5-Amino-1MQ Dosage: Common Protocol and Mouse Study Data

The 50-150 mg oral common-practice protocol for 5-Amino-1MQ, plus the one published mouse study dose - no human trial exists.

The short version

There is no trial-established human dose of 5-Amino-1MQ, because no published human trial of it exists. The protocol most often used is 50-150 mg taken orally once daily in the morning, for an 8-12 week cycle with a 4-8 week break. That is common practice, not something a trial established. The only published dosing data is one mouse experiment, which injected a set dose over 11 days in obese mice. It is an animal dose, not a human one.

  • The protocol most often used is 50-150 mg orally once daily, morning, over an 8-12 week cycle with a 4-8 week break. It is common practice, not trial-established.
  • No published human trial of any phase exists for 5-Amino-1MQ, so these numbers come from circulating practice, not a study.
  • The only published dosing data is from one mouse study, and it is an animal dose.
  • A mouse dose cannot be scaled into a human dose without studies that do not exist for this compound.

No trial has established a human dose of 5-Amino-1MQ. No published human trial of it exists, at any phase. This page gives the protocol most often used in practice, labelled as common practice. It also gives the one published dosing study I could locate, in mice, as an animal dose only. For what 5-Amino-1MQ is, why it is not a peptide, and its legal status, see the main 5-Amino-1MQ guide.

US legal status - Unapproved drug

Not FDA-approved for any use and not a lawful dietary supplement, whatever a product label claims. Sold as a "research use only" chemical, with no published human trial behind it.

5-Amino-1MQ dosage: the common protocol

The protocol most often used is 50-150 mg taken orally once daily in the morning. It typically starts at 50 mg for the first 1-2 weeks, then moves to a 100-150 mg maintenance dose. The cycle runs 8-12 weeks, with a 4-8 week break.

Sources describe starting at 50 mg/day for the first 1-2 weeks before moving to a 100-150 mg/day maintenance dose, most commonly settling at 100 mg. A community-reported subcutaneous route also circulates (2.5-5 mg/day) but is described as not interchangeable with the oral dose.

No published human trial exists

I searched for a published human clinical trial of 5-Amino-1MQ, any phase and any population, and found none. I also found no human pharmacokinetic, safety or dosing study. So no dose, frequency or duration has been tested in a peer-reviewed human study. The protocol above is common practice compiled from circulating clinic and community sources, not a finding from a trial.

Doses used in animal studies

A study of NNMT inhibitors in diet-induced obese mice Neelakantan 2018 - Neelakantan H, Vance V, Wetzel MD et al. Selective and membrane-permeable small molecule inhibitors of nicotinamide N-methyltransferase reverse high fat diet-induced obesity in mice. Biochem Pharmacol. 2018;147:141-152., in the references below is the only dosing data I could locate for 5-Amino-1MQ. Obese mice, kept on a high-fat diet for 16 weeks, received the compound by three subcutaneous injections per day. Each was 20 mg per kilogram of body weight, for a total of about 34 mg/kg per day, over 11 days. Control mice received saline injections on the same schedule.

That dose was chosen after a dose-ranging test in a small number of mice, up to 150 mg/kg per day in total. In that test, a 60 mg/kg per day total dose was reported as well tolerated with no observed adverse effects.

Why this page reports a protocol but not a study-backed dose

The 50-150 mg protocol above comes from named clinic and community sources this page fetched and checked. It does not come from a published human study, a clinical trial or a regulator. Those same sources say the number is not established by any trial. Stating what is commonly done, and where it comes from, is different from claiming it is evidence-based. It is not, and no source claims otherwise.

How to reconstitute 5-Amino-1MQ

Working out an injection volume from a vial’s concentration and a target amount is arithmetic. It is separate from the question of what dose to use, which this page cannot answer. The dosage calculator does that math for whatever vial and target amount you are looking at. It does not say what dose is appropriate, and using it is not an endorsement of any specific number.

Who should not use it

There is no FDA-reviewed contraindication list, because no human trial or regulatory review of 5-Amino-1MQ exists. With no published human safety data, no population has been assessed as lower- or higher-risk. That includes pregnancy, breastfeeding, any age group, any medical condition and any current medication. The absence of data is a reason for caution across the board, not a sign that any group is in the clear.

5-Amino-1MQ side effects and risks

The risks in humans are unknown, because no published human safety study exists. The mouse study reported no observed adverse effects at the doses it tested, and no effect on food intake. But that describes mice, under experimental conditions, over 11 days. It does not establish human safety at any dose, frequency or duration. A “research use only” vial bought online also carries unverified sourcing and purity, on top of a compound with no human safety record.

Common questions

What is the usual 5-Amino-1MQ dose?

The protocol most often used is 50-150 mg taken orally once daily in the morning. It typically starts at 50 mg for the first 1-2 weeks, then moves to a 100-150 mg maintenance dose, over an 8-12 week cycle with a 4-8 week break. That is common practice compiled from circulating clinic and community sources. No published human trial has established it, and no such trial exists at any phase.

What dose was used in the mouse study?

In one published study, diet-induced obese mice received the NNMT inhibitor 5-amino-1MQ by three subcutaneous injections per day. Each was 20 mg per kilogram of body weight, about 34 mg/kg per day in total, for 11 days. That dose was chosen after a dose-ranging test in a small number of mice, up to 150 mg/kg per day. In that test, 60 mg/kg per day was tolerated with no observed adverse effects. All of these are animal doses in a specific mouse strain and diet model, not a human dosing schedule.

Can the mouse dose be converted into a human dose?

Not on any basis this page can verify. Converting an animal dose to a human one requires pharmacokinetic and safety data: how the body absorbs, processes and clears the compound at different doses. That data does not exist for 5-Amino-1MQ in humans. Species also handle drugs differently, so a simple weight-based conversion is unreliable even when the data does exist.

Is there a recommended frequency or duration for 5-Amino-1MQ?

Not in humans, because there is no published human study to draw a frequency or duration from. The mouse study used three injections per day for 11 days. That describes one animal experiment, not a recommended human regimen.

Who should not use 5-Amino-1MQ?

There is no FDA-reviewed contraindication list, because no such review exists for this compound. With no published human safety data, no population has had its risk formally assessed: not pregnant or breastfeeding people, not any age group, not any medical condition. That absence of data is a reason for caution, not evidence of safety in any group.

What are the risks of using 5-Amino-1MQ?

They are unknown. No published human safety, toxicity or drug-interaction study exists. The mouse study reported no observed adverse effects at the doses it tested, but that describes mice under experimental conditions over 11 days. It does not establish human safety at any dose or duration.

When should I stop and get medical care?

Get emergency care (call 911 in the US) for signs of a severe allergic reaction, difficulty breathing, or severe or persistent vomiting. Call Poison Control at 1-800-222-1222 if you have taken an unknown or excessive amount of anything sold as 5-Amino-1MQ. This page is not a substitute for a clinician who knows your history.
