PEG-MGF Dosage: The Common Protocol, and Why No Study Set It
FDA states it has identified no human exposure data on PEG-MGF by any route. Here is the protocol commonly used in practice, labelled as such, not trial-established.
The short version
FDA states it has identified no human exposure data on PEG-MGF by any route, and no study, human or animal, has published a quantified injected dose either. The protocol most commonly used in practice is 200-400 mcg by subcutaneous injection, 2-3 times a week post-workout, for a 4-6 week cycle with at least a 4-week break. It is stated here as common practice compiled from circulating sources, not something any trial established.
- The protocol most often used is 200-400 mcg, 2-3 times a week post-workout, for 4-6 weeks with a 4-week break - common practice, not trial-established.
- No human dose exists in any study. FDA states it has identified no human exposure data on PEG-MGF at all.
- No verifiable animal dose exists either. The closest research found describes delivery to cells and tissue slices, not a quantified dose given to a whole animal.
- Reconstitution arithmetic is a separate question from dosing. A linked calculator covers it, without recommending a number.
Most dosage pages on this site report the doses a study actually used. This one cannot, because no study reports a specific PEG-MGF dose. That holds for humans and, as far as a literature search could verify, for animals. What follows instead is the protocol commonly used in practice, labelled as common practice rather than trial-established.

PEG-MGF dosage: the common protocol
The protocol most often used is 200-400 mcg by subcutaneous injection, 2-3 times a week, typically post-workout. A cycle runs 4-6 weeks with at least a 4-week break before the next one. No study, human or animal, has published a quantified PEG-MGF dose. The next section explains why.
Common protocol
What is commonly used, not a dose established in trials. No regulator has set a dose for PEG-MGF. Sources differ, so the ranges below span them.

- How often
- 2-3 times a week, post-workout
- Route
- Subcutaneous injection
- Cycle length
- 4-6 weeks
- Break between cycles
- 4 weeks
- Common vial size
- 2 mg
- Timing
- Post-workout, when satellite-cell activation is said to be most relevant; sources describe injecting into the trained muscle group.
- Commonly paired with
- IGF-1 LR3, BPC-157, TB-500, CJC-1295, Ipamorelin
Sources describe cycling as necessary to avoid receptor downregulation. One source gives a wider per-injection range up to 1.2 mg and describes weekly dosing elsewhere on the same page, alongside its more common 200-400 mcg, 2-3x weekly figure, so treat the low end of the range as the better-supported one.

The common PEG-MGF dose is 200-400 mcg, 2-3 times a week, post-workout. From a 2 mg vial mixed with 2 mL of bacteriostatic water, 300 mcg is 30 units (0.3 mL) on a U-100 insulin syringe.

Units are on a standard U-100 insulin syringe (100 units = 1 mL), rounded to the nearest half unit - half-unit marks are on 0.3 mL syringes. Water volumes are examples: more water means more units per dose, not more doses per vial. For any other vial or dose, use the calculator below.

Why no study has set a dose
As the main PEG-MGF page explains, FDA’s bulk drug substances safety-risk page states that the agency has identified no human exposure data on PEG-MGF administered by any route. The regulator is saying directly that no human dosing study exists to report a number from.
This site’s dosing policy allows citing an animal-study figure, but only explicitly as an animal dose and never converted into a human number. A PubMed search for a quantified dose of injected MGF or PEG-MGF peptide in a live animal model did not return a paper that reports one.
The closest result loaded the peptide into implantable microrods. It measured release onto cultured human stem cells and isolated rat heart-muscle cells in a dish over two weeks. That is useful biology. It is not a dose given to a whole animal, so this page cannot responsibly print it as “the animal dose.” Where a source does not contain a figure, this page does not manufacture one.
What is not established
- No human dose, frequency, route or duration has been tested in a trial. The protocol above is common practice compiled from circulating sources, not a finding from a study.
- No animal dose either. The papers found describe cell and tissue-culture delivery, not a quantified in-vivo dose.
- No half-life to base a schedule on. As the main guide states, no published human pharmacokinetic study establishes one. The “extended half-life from PEGylation” claim is a vendor description, not a measured figure.
Who should not use it
No trial population exists to draw an exclusion list from. PEG-MGF targets the same signalling pathway as IGF-1, and FDA separately flags immunogenicity risk and difficulty characterising the peptide’s impurities. For those reasons, this site does not consider PEG-MGF appropriate for anyone outside a research setting. It offers no specific list of excluded groups, because no study defines one.
Anyone already on prescribed hormone therapy, insulin or other glucose-lowering medication should raise any research chemical with the prescribing clinician rather than decide alone. The IGF-1 pathway it targets is directly relevant to insulin sensitivity.
PEG-MGF side effects and risks
There is no established side-effect profile, because no completed human trial has tested PEG-MGF. FDA states it has identified no human exposure data on it by any route. It separately flags a risk of immunogenicity for certain routes of administration, and complexity in characterising the peptide and its impurities.
Because PEG-MGF targets the same pathway as IGF-1, the wider class carries a general concern around insulin sensitivity and growth signalling. That concern is based on the pathway, not on a study of this peptide. Buying an unregulated research chemical also carries manufacturing and purity risk unrelated to the molecule itself.
PEG-MGF is named explicitly in the WADA Prohibited List and is banned at all times in sport. A tested athlete should check the current list directly.
When to seek care
Signs of a serious allergic reaction are a medical emergency: facial or throat swelling, difficulty breathing, or a rapidly spreading rash. In the US, call 911. For a reaction that is not an emergency, or a possible exposure, Poison Control is on 1-800-222-1222.

Common questions
What is the usual PEG-MGF dose?
The protocol most often used is 200-400 mcg by subcutaneous injection, 2-3 times a week, typically post-workout. A cycle runs 4-6 weeks with at least a 4-week break before the next one. That is common practice compiled from circulating protocols, not a dose any study has established. FDA states it has identified no human exposure data on PEG-MGF by any route, and no published animal study reports a quantified injected dose either.
Is there an animal-study dose for PEG-MGF or MGF?
Not one I could verify. Research into the natural mechano growth factor splice variant describes it being expressed in muscle after injury. Other studies deliver the peptide to cell cultures or heart-muscle tissue in a lab dish. I found no specific injected dose given to a whole animal in the papers I checked. Where a source does not give a number, this page does not print one.
Why do vendor sites list a specific PEG-MGF dose?
Those figures are not drawn from a study I could verify. They circulate as vendor and forum protocols and are not established by any regulator or trial. The common protocol on this page is labelled as common practice for that reason, so an unstudied number is not presented as if it had evidence behind it.
How do I calculate an injection volume for PEG-MGF?
This page does not supply a dose from a study. If you already have a number from elsewhere, the dosage calculator linked on this page converts a vial concentration into an injection volume. It converts units and does not recommend a dose.
