Selank Dosage: Common Nasal Protocol and What Trials Used
Selank dosage: one human trial reports 900 mcg per dose, three times daily. Common practice is 250-900 mcg intranasal; animal studies used 0.1-1 mg/kg IP in rats.
The short version
One of the two published human trials of Selank reports a numeric dose. The 2008 Russian GAD/neurasthenia trial used a fixed 900 mcg per administration (2.7 mg/day total, 0.15% solution, 36 drops), three times daily, for 14 days. The other trial states no dose, and the rat data (roughly 0.1-1 mg/kg by injection) does not convert into a human figure. Clinic and vendor guides commonly describe 250-900 mcg by intranasal spray, one to three times a day - common practice, with cycle length varying by source.
- Two human RCTs of Selank exist; the 2008 GAD/neurasthenia trial states a dose: 900 mcg per administration, three times daily, for 14 days.
- Clinic and vendor guides commonly describe 250-900 mcg intranasal, 1-3x/day - common practice, with cycle length varying most across sources.
- Rat studies commonly used intraperitoneal Selank around 0.1-1 mg/kg, single or repeated - an animal dose, not a human one.
- No published study converts an animal dose to a human one, and nobody should attempt that conversion themselves.
Selank has no approved dose. Of its two published human trials, only one states a dose. This page gives the protocol clinic and vendor guides commonly describe, then says what the trials and animal dosing studies do and do not establish. For the fuller evidence picture, see the main Semax and Selank guide.
US legal status - Research use only
Not approved for human use in the US and sold through research-chemical channels. Used clinically in Russia, which is why vendors sometimes describe it as an approved medicine - true there, not where it is being bought.
Selank dosage: the common protocol
Clinic and vendor dosing guides most often describe 250-900 mcg of Selank by intranasal spray, one to three times a day, spaced through waking hours. That is common practice, not a single dose every source agrees on. The published Russian GAD clinical trial used the top of that range, a fixed schedule: 900 mcg per administration, three times daily (2.7 mg/day total), for a 14-day course.
Common protocol
What is commonly used, not a dose established in trials. No regulator has set a dose for Selank. Sources differ, so the ranges below span them.
- Dose per administration
- 250-900 mcg
- How often
- 1-3 times daily, spaced through waking hours; the published Russian GAD clinical-trial protocol used a fixed 3 times daily schedule (900 mcg per dose, 2.7 mg/day total) for a 14-day course
- Route
- Nasal spray or drops
- Cycle length
- 2-8 weeks
- Break between cycles
- 2-4 weeks
- Common vial size
- 10 mg
- Timing
- Spaced roughly 6-8 hours apart across the day; some self-administration guides use a single dose before bed for sleep onset. The clinical-trial protocol (0.15% solution, 36 drops/day) used a fixed 3x/day schedule for 14 days.

Source upgrade pass (2026-09-27): added the actual peer-reviewed clinical trial behind the 'Russian GAD protocol' vendor guides refer to - Zozulya et al., Zhurnal Nevrologii i Psikhiatrii im. S.S. Korsakova, 2008, 62 patients with GAD/neurasthenia (42 on Selank, 20 on medazepam comparator), intranasal 0.15% solution at 2.7 mg/day (36 drops) split into three daily doses - 900 mcg per administration, over a 14-day course. That 900 mcg figure sits right at the top of the 300-900 mcg range Parahealth's own page already claimed for the Russian protocol, so the dose ceiling was raised from 500 to 900 mcg to match what both the vendor source and the primary trial actually state; the 250 mcg floor is unchanged since both sources still describe lighter single-spray use for other indications. Cycle length still varies most: a fixed 14-day Russian-protocol course (confirmed by the trial) versus a looser 4-8 weeks on/2-4 weeks off Western pattern. Both self-administration sources caution that Semax+Selank stacking is community practice, not a published, tested combination.
What the human trials report
Two published human trials of Selank exist. Both appeared in the same Russian-language neurology journal.
- 2008 trial: compared Selank with the anti-anxiety drug medazepam in 62 patients with generalized anxiety disorder or neurasthenia Zozulia 2008 - Zozulia AA, Neznamov GG, Siuniakov TS et al. [Efficacy and possible mechanisms of action of a new peptide anxiolytic selank in the therapy of generalized anxiety disorders and neurasthenia]. Zh Nevrol Psikhiatr Im S S Korsakova. 2008;108(4):38-48., in the references below. It used a fixed intranasal 0.15% solution at 2.7 mg/day (36 drops), split into three daily doses of 900 mcg each, over a 14-day course.
- 2015 trial: gave 40 of 70 patients with anxiety-spectrum disorders Selank added to phenazepam, against 30 on phenazepam alone Medvedev 2015 - Medvedev VE, Tereshchenko ON, Kost NV et al. [Optimization of the treatment of anxiety disorders with selank]. Zh Nevrol Psikhiatr Im S S Korsakova. 2015;115(6):33-40., in the references below. The English-language abstract available through PubMed states no milligram dose or nasal-drop schedule.
Selank doses used in animal studies
Apart from the 2008 trial, the dosing figures I could verify come from rat studies. Several gave Selank by intraperitoneal injection:

What vendors and clinics describe
Nootropic vendor and clinic pages describe Selank nasal-spray schedules for healthy-adult anxiety and focus use: the 250-900 mcg, 1-3x/day protocol above. The top of that range matches the fixed schedule of the 2008 GAD trial. The rest is common practice, not traceable to a published human study or a formal conversion from the animal data above.
Reconstitution and volume: use the calculator, not a guess
None of the sources above used a reconstituted vial dosed by a home injector. If you are working through concentration and volume math for a specific product, the dosage calculator does the arithmetic. It does not choose a dose.
What is not established
- Only one of the two published human trials states a numeric dose - the 2008 GAD/neurasthenia trial. The 2015 trial states none in its available abstract.
- No animal-to-human dose conversion has been published for Selank.
- No FDA-approved product, label or consumer dose exists in the US.
- No verified content or purity for a vial bought through research-chemical channels.
Who should not use it
No FDA-reviewed contraindication list exists, because no such review has happened. The two human trials enrolled patients with a diagnosed anxiety-spectrum condition under psychiatric supervision. That describes who those trials enrolled; it is not a safety clearance for anyone self-directing outside that setting. Nobody should decide this alone, and an unapproved research chemical is not something to use around any medical condition, medication or pregnancy status.
Selank side effects and risks
The two human trials report tolerability data specific to their own patient groups and co-administered drugs, not to Selank alone at a defined dose. Beyond them, there is no published outpatient safety record for self-directed Selank use and no FDA-reviewed label. A vial bought outside a trial or the Russian pharmacy system has no verified content or purity.

Common questions
What is the usual Selank dose?
Clinic and vendor dosing guides most often describe 250-900 mcg of Selank by intranasal spray, one to three times a day spaced through waking hours. Courses often run two to eight weeks with a 2-4 week break. That is common practice, not a dose every source agrees on. The published Russian GAD trial used the top of that range: 900 mcg per administration, three times daily (2.7 mg/day total), for 14 days.
What human dose of Selank do the studies use?
One trial states one. The 2008 trial compared Selank with medazepam in 62 patients with generalized anxiety disorder or neurasthenia. It used a fixed intranasal 0.15% solution at 2.7 mg/day (36 drops), split into three daily doses of 900 mcg each, over 14 days. The 2015 trial states no numeric dose in the English-language abstract available through PubMed, and I do not transcribe dosing from a paper I cannot fully read. Animal studies also give a clear number (see the next question).
What dose do the animal studies use?
Several rat studies gave Selank by intraperitoneal injection at doses around 0.1 to 1 milligram per kilogram. Examples are 0.3 mg/kg as a single dose in an alcohol-withdrawal model, and a dose-ranging study using 100, 300 and 1000 micrograms per kilogram. These are rat doses in laboratory conditions, not a human dose, and no published study translates them into one.
Is there an FDA-approved Selank dose?
No. Selank has no FDA-approved product or label in the US. It is used clinically in Russia, and the human trials that exist come from that setting. Only the 2008 trial states a dose (see above).
