Sermorelin Dosage Chart and Calculator: Pediatric Trial Doses
Sermorelin dosage chart: units per dose by vial size, a calculator, and the only trial doses, which are weight-based and pediatric. No current FDA label exists.
The short version
Sermorelin has no current FDA label to dose from. The approved Geref products were discontinued in 2008, and the FDA has no label on file for them. The only doses backed by controlled trials are weight-based and in children with growth hormone deficiency: a diagnostic IV dose and a nightly subcutaneous treatment dose. No trial has established a dose for the sleep, body-composition or anti-aging uses sermorelin is sold for in adults today.
- No current FDA label exists to dose from. Geref was discontinued in 2008, not for safety.
- The only trial-established doses are weight-based (mcg/kg) and in children.
- No trial has established a dose for the adult wellness uses sermorelin is marketed for.

U-100 insulin syringe (100 units = 1 mL), to the nearest half unit. Arithmetic only. Other numbers: peptide calculator.
Sermorelin has no current label to dose from. This page gives what the controlled trials used, in the population they studied, and what nobody has established.
To convert a vial’s concentration into an injection volume, use the dosage calculator. It supplies only the arithmetic, not a dose.
Why there is no label to dose from
Both approved sermorelin products - GEREF injection, NDA 20-443 and NDA 19-863, held by EMD Serono - were discontinued by the sponsor in 2008. The FDA’s own record says this was not for reasons of safety or effectiveness. No current prescribing label exists for either application, so there is no approved dose to report.
US legal status - FDA-approved · prescription only
Sermorelin's two approved products were discontinued by the sponsor in 2008, not for safety reasons per the FDA's own 2013 determination. It reaches patients today only through compounding pharmacies and requires a prescriber; no current FDA label exists to dose from.
Sermorelin doses used in human studies
Both doses below are weight-based, in children, and set for diagnosis or treatment of growth hormone deficiency. Neither is for an adult use.
| Use | Dose | Route | Frequency | Population |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Diagnostic test | 1 mcg/kg bodyweight | Intravenous | Single dose | Children being tested for growth hormone deficiency |
| Treatment | 30 mcg/kg bodyweight | Subcutaneous | Once daily, at bedtime | Prepubertal children with idiopathic growth hormone deficiency |
A comparative trial tested two subcutaneous regimens against growth hormone itself, split across three daily doses rather than one. The low-dose arm got 30 mcg/kg/day and the high-dose arm 60 mcg/kg/day. Each ran for six months against a growth-hormone control arm dosed at 0.1 IU/kg/day once daily Neyzi 1993 - Neyzi O, Yordam N, Ocal G et al. Growth response to growth hormone-releasing hormone(1-29)-NH2 compared with growth hormone. Acta Paediatr Suppl. 1993;388:16-21; discussion 22., in the references below. The once-daily bedtime regimen in the table comes from a review of sermorelin’s diagnostic and paediatric treatment use Prakash 1999 - Prakash A, Goa KL. What is not established
- No adult dose. No trial I located sets a sermorelin dose for adults, for any indication.
- No dose for the marketed adult uses. No randomised trial in adults measured sleep quality, body composition or anti-aging, so no dose is tied to them.
- No scaled-up adult figure. I am not converting the paediatric mcg/kg dose into an adult-equivalent number. No source I found makes that extrapolation, and I won’t invent a dose.
- No established maximum or duration for adult use, for the same reason.
Sermorelin side effects and risks
Sermorelin requires a prescriber and bloodwork. It is a hormone-axis drug that prompts the pituitary to release growth hormone, so the risks of growth-hormone-releasing peptides as a class apply. Growth-hormone excess is linked to fluid retention, joint pain and insulin resistance. Chronic excess is also linked to hypertension and cardiac changes.
Sermorelin is prohibited in competitive sport at all times as a growth hormone releasing factor.
Do not use it outside a prescriber’s direct supervision if you have a history of a pituitary or hypothalamic condition, active malignancy, or known hypersensitivity to sermorelin. If you are pregnant, stop and ask a clinician before continuing anything in this drug class.
When to seek care
Signs of a serious allergic reaction are a medical emergency. They include facial or throat swelling, difficulty breathing, or a rapidly spreading rash. In the US, call 911. For a reaction that is not an emergency, or a possible exposure, Poison Control can be reached at 1-800-222-1222.

Research-labelled sermorelin (not a prescription product)
These checked vendors sell a research-labelled version. No prescriber or pharmacist is involved, it is labelled not for human use, and it is tested only as the seller chooses.

Common questions
What is the sermorelin dosage?
The only doses with controlled-trial support are weight-based and in children. One is 1 microgram per kilogram of bodyweight as a single intravenous diagnostic test. The other is 30 micrograms per kilogram once daily subcutaneously at bedtime, as a treatment regimen for prepubertal children with growth hormone deficiency. There is no established dose for adults.
Why is there no current label dose for adults?
The sponsor discontinued the two approved sermorelin products, both branded Geref, in 2008. The FDA later determined this was not for reasons of safety or effectiveness. It has no label on file for either application today, so there is no label to state a dose from.
What are the fixed adult doses sold online based on?
Not on a published trial I could locate. The weight-based paediatric doses above are the only ones with controlled-trial support. The review reporting them says limited data exist and that the effect of long-term treatment on final adult height is yet to be determined. Converting a paediatric weight-based dose into a fixed adult number is an extrapolation no source I found makes.
Is there a maximum safe sermorelin dose?
No trial I located establishes a maximum for adults. The paediatric comparative trial tested a higher-dose arm (60 mcg/kg/day) against a lower one (30 mcg/kg/day), both in children, over six months. That compares two doses. It is not a safety ceiling for adult use.
