Intranasal oxytocin has a large randomised literature - in autism, obesity and social cognition. For the libido use the peptide market sells it for, there is none.

Oxytocin is a natural hormone and a long-approved injectable medicine used in childbirth. The peptide market sells a nasal spray for libido and connection. Intranasal oxytocin has been studied in 71 randomised trials - in autism, obesity and social cognition - and in none for sexual function.

Oxytocin turns up on peptide comparison tables, and it is the entry most likely to mislead — because almost everything said about it is true of a product that is not the one being sold.
Two different things sharing a name
The medicine. Injectable oxytocin is a long-approved prescription drug used in obstetrics, administered in hospital with monitoring. It has a serious risk profile in that setting, which is why it is used the way it is used.
The peptide-market product. An intranasal spray, self-administered, bought online, taken for libido, connection or anxiety.
What intranasal oxytocin has actually been tested for
This is an unusually clean version of the pattern this site keeps finding. None of it is about libido.
On safety, precisely
The published safety work describes the doses and durations used in trials — supervised, time-limited, in people who were being monitored MacDonald 2011 - MacDonald E, Dadds MR, Brennan JL et al. That is not the same claim as “safe to take indefinitely, at whatever dose, from a vial you bought online”. The first is evidence; the second is an extrapolation with nothing under it.

Injectable oxytocin is an approved prescription medicine used in obstetrics under clinical supervision. Intranasal oxytocin sold for libido, connection or anxiety is not an approved product for that purpose, and compounded or grey-market preparations are not quality-verified.
