Prostamax (KEDP): What the Research Shows, Dosage and Legal Status
Prostamax (KEDP): a Khavinson prostate peptide studied in cultured blood cells, distinct from the older drug Prostatilen, with no prostate-outcome trial.
The short version
Prostamax is one of Vladimir Khavinson's organ-specific bioregulator peptides, marketed for prostate health and aging. The human-cell studies behind it looked at chromatin structure in blood cells, not the prostate. It is also a different, much less studied product than Prostatilen, the older drug some vendors compare it to.
- Prostamax is the tetrapeptide Lys-Glu-Asp-Pro (KEDP), marketed as a prostate-tissue bioregulator.
- The human-cell studies measured chromatin structure in blood cells, not prostate tissue.
- It is a different product from Prostatilen, an older extract with its own clinical literature.
- Not approved by the FDA or any other regulator; sold as a research chemical.

Prostamax is one of several Khavinson bioregulator peptides covered on this site, alongside Epitalon and Pinealon. As with those, the research is real but thin and comes from one research lineage. For Prostamax, none of it is in prostate tissue.
Studied in cells or animals. No controlled trials in humans. Every Prostamax study I located and read is lab work in cultured human blood cells or rat tissue, from one Russian/Georgian research lineage. I found no published human trial measuring any prostate outcome for this synthetic tetrapeptide.
What is Prostamax?
Prostamax is a short synthetic peptide of four amino acids, Lys-Glu-Asp-Pro (KEDP). It comes from Vladimir Khavinson’s organ-specific bioregulator programme, which also produced Epitalon and Pinealon. It is marketed as a prostate peptide, designed as a chemically defined successor to the older, less-defined prostate-tissue extracts used in that research tradition.

How Prostamax works
Researchers propose that Prostamax acts on chromatin, the packaging of DNA, in aging cells rather than through a conventional receptor. Two studies in cultured blood cells (lymphocytes) from older adults, aged 75-86 in one study, found that it loosened chromatin that had become tightly packed with age Meskhi 2004 - Meskhi T, Khachidze D, Barbakadze Sh et al. [The influence of the peptide bioregulator prostamax on heterochromatin of human lymphocytes in situ]. Biofizika. 2004;49(6):1091-3., in the references below Dzhokhadze 2012 - Dzhokhadze TA, Buadze TZh, Gaĭozishvili MN et al. [Deheterochromatinization of the chromatin in old age induced by oligopeptide bioregulator (Lys-Glu-Asp-Pro)]. Georgian Med News. 2012., in the references below. The researchers read this as switching back on genes that age had silenced.
A third study set out to test Prostamax with copper and cadmium ions on lymphocytes from older people. Its abstract reports results only for the metal ions, not for Prostamax Kiladze 2009 - Kiladze M, Gorgoshidze M, Monaselidze J et al. Microcalorimetric study of human blood lymphocytes culture at presence of copper, cadmium and prostamax. Georgian Med News. 2009., in the references below.
Prostamax benefits: what the research shows
I found no published human trial of synthetic Prostamax measuring any prostate outcome: symptom score, flow rate, gland size or anything else. The evidence is the blood-cell chromatin studies above, plus one rat study.
That rat study tested Prostamax alongside three related bioregulators (cardiogen, bronchogen and pancragen) on heart, lung, prostate and pancreas tissue from young and old rats, kept alive in culture. Each peptide, at 0.05 ng/ml, stimulated its matched tissue compared with untreated samples Zakutskiĭ 2006 - Zakutskiĭ AN, Chalisova NI, Ryzhak GA et al. [The tissue-specific effect of synthetic peptides-biologic regulators in organotypic tissues culture in young and old rats]. Adv Gerontol. 2006;19:93-6., in the references below.
Nothing I could verify supports marketing claims about prostate symptoms or urinary flow for this compound.
Prostamax dosage
No published trial or regulator has set a dose. Research-chemical dosing guides describe 0.75 to 2 mg injected under the skin once a day, from a 20 mg vial. That is common practice, not a tested dose. The two sources I checked disagree on course length: 10-20 days in one, 8 weeks with a mid-course dose increase in the other.
Common protocol
What is commonly used, not a dose established in trials. No regulator has set a dose for Prostamax. Sources differ, so the ranges below span them.
- Dose per administration
- 750-2000 mcg
- How often
- once daily, subcutaneous, often started lower and increased after 1-4 weeks
- Route
- Subcutaneous injection
- Cycle length
- 1.4-8 weeks
- Common vial size
- 20 mg
Sources disagree substantially on how long a course runs: one describes a 0.75 mg starting dose for the first 10 days rising to a 2 mg maintenance dose for a total course of up to 8 weeks; the other describes a much shorter 10-20 day 'bioregulator convention' course at roughly 1-2 mg. Neither states a break length between courses. Prostamax (the synthetic tetrapeptide covered here) is a different product from Prostatilen, an older bovine prostate extract with its own, separate clinical literature; one of these sources explicitly warns the two are sometimes conflated in vendor marketing.
Plan a cycle in the protocol builder or work out injection volume in the dosage calculator.
The common Prostamax dose is 750-2000 mcg, once daily, subcutaneous, often started lower and increased after 1-4 weeks. From a 20 mg vial mixed with 2 mL of bacteriostatic water, 1.5 mg is 15 units (0.15 mL) on a U-100 insulin syringe.
Prostamax 20 mg vial: units per dose
Full 20 mg vial page: mixing, doses per vial, how long it lasts →
| Water added | Concentration | 1 unit = | 750 mcg | 1.5 mg | 2 mg |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 mL | 20 mg/mL | 200 mcg | 4 units | 7.5 units | 10 units |
| 2 mL | 10 mg/mL | 100 mcg | 7.5 units | 15 units | 20 units |
| 3 mL | 6.67 mg/mL | 66.67 mcg | 11.5 units | 22.5 units | 30 units |
All Prostamax vial sizes: 20 mg
Units are on a standard U-100 insulin syringe (100 units = 1 mL), rounded to the nearest half unit - half-unit marks are on 0.3 mL syringes. Water volumes are examples: more water means more units per dose, not more doses per vial. For any other vial or dose, use the dosage calculator.
How many 20 mg vials a cycle takes
| Scenario | Dose | Doses a week | Weeks | Total | 20 mg vials |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Low end of the common protocol | 750 mcg | 7 | 1.4 | 7.5 mg | 1 |
| High end of the common protocol | 2 mg | 7 | 8 | 112 mg | 6 |
Whole vials, rounded up. Plan a cycle with your own numbers in the protocol builder. Keep mixed vials cold and use them within the window in how long reconstituted peptides last; where to inject: subcutaneous injection sites.
Prostamax side effects
No human safety study of synthetic Prostamax has been published, so no side-effect rate, common or rare, is known. The chromatin studies measured a lab endpoint in blood cells and were not designed to look for adverse events.
It is sold through unregulated research-chemical channels, so no regulator checks that a vial matches its label. Because it is injected, see peptide injection-site reactions for what to watch for at the injection site; that is a general risk of injecting, not specific to Prostamax.
Is Prostamax legal?
US legal status - Research use only
Sold for laboratory research use only. Not approved by the FDA for human use, and cannot be lawfully marketed as a supplement or a medicine. Products sold this way are not made to pharmaceutical quality standards, and their contents are not verified by anyone.
Prostamax is not approved by the FDA or any other regulator for any use. It is sold through research-chemical channels, not a regulated pharmaceutical supply chain.

Common questions
What is the usual Prostamax dose?
No trial or regulator has set one. Two research-chemical dosing guides I checked describe 0.75-2 mg injected under the skin once a day, from a 20 mg vial. They disagree on course length: 10-20 days in one, 8 weeks with a mid-course dose increase in the other. See the dosage section below.
What are the side effects of Prostamax?
No human safety study of synthetic Prostamax has been published, so there is no verified side-effect rate. See the side effects section on this page for what is and isn't known.
Is Prostamax the same thing as Prostatilen?
No. Prostatilen is an older extract of cow prostate tissue with its own, larger clinical literature. Prostamax is the later, chemically defined synthetic peptide (Lys-Glu-Asp-Pro). Vendors sometimes blur the two, but Prostatilen's evidence does not transfer to Prostamax.
