Buy PT-141: Prescription Prices and Research Vials Compared

Checked, not rated · Updated 3 October 2026

You need a prescription to buy PT-141 legally in the US. With one, Vyleesi costs $99 for a 4-dose box without insurance, says its maker, Cosette Pharmaceuticals (as of 3 October 2026).

Research vendors also sell research-labelled PT-141, which is not the approved medicine.

How to buy PT-141 legally

US status: FDA-approved as Vyleesi (bremelanotide), a 1.75 mg autoinjector for premenopausal women with acquired, generalized hypoactive sexual desire disorder; not indicated for men, and no nasal form is approved.

Prescription needed? Yes. Vyleesi is a prescription product, and compounded PT-141 is also dispensed only on a prescription after a consultation.

Vyleesi through your clinician and BlinkRx

Legal route

The prescription goes to BlinkRx, the manufacturer's pharmacy partner, which checks coverage, applies savings and delivers to your home. Patients on Medicaid, TRICARE or other government plans can't use the manufacturer's assistance.

Vyleesi through the manufacturer-linked telemedicine partner

Legal route

BeyondMD (Prescribery) runs an online questionnaire and a physician review, then a pharmacy partner fills and ships. Its 'never more than $149' cash figure conflicts with the $99 on vyleesi.com.

Compounded bremelanotide through telehealth

Legal route

Sold on prescription as compounded, not FDA-approved products, often as nasal sprays and to men, outside the Vyleesi label. FDA's 503A rules let compounders use a component of an FDA-approved drug, and bremelanotide acetate is Vyleesi's active ingredient; I found no bremelanotide-specific FDA compounding statement since the 2019 approval.

Research-labelled PT-141 (not the approved medicine)

Vyleesi is a sterile 1.75 mg/0.3 mL autoinjector made under an NDA, with a label that limits use to one dose in 24 hours and no more than 8 a month, and lists uncontrolled hypertension and known cardiovascular disease as contraindications. A research vial or spray has no verified content, dose or sterility, and no nasal form has ever been approved. FDA's 24 August 2026 warning letters named research-sold 'PT-141' at four sellers (Peptide Partners, Peak Performance Peptides, Royal Peptides and NuScience Peptides) as unapproved new drugs, and said research-use-only labels do not change that.

Compared with the approved medicine, a research vial has not been reviewed by FDA, is labelled not for human use, and is tested only as the seller chooses.

The checklist results come from my review of each vendor and cover the whole store. A vendor can publish COAs for some products and not others. The order is not a ranking.

What a research PT-141 COA should show

A certificate of analysis (COA) is the lab report for one batch. For PT-141, check these:

  • Identity by mass spectrometry, with the expected and the measured mass side by side. For PT-141, expect about 1,025.2 Da (C50H68N14O10).
  • Purity by HPLC for this batch, shown as a chromatogram as well as a percentage.
  • A lot number that matches your vial or pack, the test date and the lab's name, so you can confirm the certificate on the lab's own site.

A purity figure does not cover sterility or bacterial endotoxins; a COA covers those only if it reports separate tests for them. Line by line: how to read a peptide COA.

Red flags when buying research PT-141

  • A research vial presented as the approved medicine, or sold to you as a treatment.
  • No certificate of analysis for the batch you will receive, or one without a lot number or a named lab.
  • Dosing instructions or treatment claims for people on the product page.
  • An FDA warning letter naming the seller. Search fda.gov before you pay.
  • No way to pay with buyer protection, such as a credit card.

Common questions

How much is Vyleesi without insurance?

Vyleesi.com says a 4-dose box costs $99 without insurance coverage, and most commercially insured patients pay $0 (3 October 2026). The manufacturer-linked telemedicine partner says cash is never more than $149 a month per box, plus a consultation fee. Patients on Medicaid or TRICARE are not eligible for the manufacturer's help.

Is PT-141 approved for men?

No. The Vyleesi label says it is not indicated in men, in postmenopausal women, or to enhance sexual performance. Compounded PT-141 sold to men is outside the label.

Who should not take PT-141?

The Vyleesi label lists uncontrolled high blood pressure and known cardiovascular disease as contraindications. Blood pressure rises and heart rate falls briefly after each dose, so it is not recommended for people at high cardiovascular risk.

What are the common side effects of PT-141?

In the pooled Phase 3 trials behind the Vyleesi label: nausea in 40% (against 1% on placebo), flushing 20.3%, injection-site reactions 13.2%, headache 11.3% and vomiting 4.8%.

How long does it take for PT-141 nasal spray to work?

No nasal form is approved. The Vyleesi label says to inject at least 45 minutes before sexual activity. In a study of the developer's nasal spray in men, the first erection came about 30 minutes after a dose, but that spray was never approved.

Where can I buy PT-141?

Legally, only with a prescription. The legal routes I checked: Vyleesi through your clinician and BlinkRx; Vyleesi through the manufacturer-linked telemedicine partner; Compounded bremelanotide through telehealth. Vyleesi costs $99 for a 4-dose box without insurance, says its maker, Cosette Pharmaceuticals (as of 3 October 2026). Research vendors also sell research-labelled PT-141 (Next Level Pharm, Spartan Peptides and BioEdge Research Labs), labelled not for human use; it is not the approved medicine.

Is PT-141 for sale legally?

Only with a prescription. Vyleesi is a prescription product, and compounded PT-141 is also dispensed only on a prescription after a consultation. This is general information, not legal advice.
